EASL 093A Academic Preparation

EASL 093A Academic Preparation is an advanced communications seminar for students who are planning to continue their studies in English and want to improve their academic study skills. Students will work towards improving their listening, note-taking and discussion skills using authentic English and topics of interest.

Corequisite: Current enrolment in the advanced English Language Program.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. listen to, comprehend and respond to a variety of advanced lecture and discourse material.
  2. take detailed and clear notes on the information they are exposed to and report back orally or in writing.
  3. discover and distinguish cultural variances within a classroom setting.
  4. utilize an increasingly wider vocabulary in both speaking and writing.
