EASL 018 Fundamental Communications

EASL 018 Fundamental Communications develops students' ability and confidence to conduct fundamental conversations in English about common daily subjects. Students use common functional vocabulary, form simple phrases and questions, and practice high frequency grammatical structures to communicate personal needs, express personal likes and dislikes, and report personal and factual information.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. participate in conversations about their immediate and personal environment using simple sentences and basic functional vocabulary.
  2. recognize high frequency words and phrases delivered in short simple sentences.
  3. follow clear, straightforward instructions.
  4. ask for clarification using simple questions or phrases.
  5. imitate English sounds and stress patterns, and produce some of these spontaneously.
  6. use verbal and non-verbal communication to respond to questions and gather information.
