EASL 092A Volunteer Internship is an advanced interactive communicative seminar where students can volunteer once a week at a business, service or organization in Castlegar. This experience gives students an opportunity to learn more about the community and use their English in a real setting.
Corequisite: Current enrolment in the English Language Program.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- demonstrate improved English fluency, accuracy and vocabulary related to the volunteer placement.
- demonstrate increased colloquial and idiomatic vocabulary.
- demonstrate development of knowledge regarding Canadian workplace and community culture.
- demonstrate increased level of cross-cultural understanding between international/domestic ESL students and community members.
- in addition, there will be development of host employers’ knowledge of students’ cultures.
