SROM 151 Marketing examines the roles and functions of marketing in the tourism industry. The principles of customer service excellence and service recovery are discussed in detail. You are lead through the five steps of the Marketing Planning Process discovering how product, price, plan and promotion (4 P's) are used in the marketing of tourism products and services. You will conduct a case study analysis of an existing company to demonstrate knowledge of marketing concepts studied.

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Describe fundamental principles of marketing, terms and definitions, as well as the role of the marketing manager
- Explain the 4 Ps of marketing
- Demonstrate an understanding of the decisions involved in the marketing function of organizations
- Analyze complex marketing problems and generate appropriate recommendations for implementation
- Identify corporate social responsibility concerns related to marketing (e.g. sustainability, cultural appropriation, green-washing)
- Design a Marketing Plan using the group problem solving method
