Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Incorporate tourism terminology into written and verbal communication
  2. Identify the sectors of the tourism industry and explain their interrelationships
  3. Describe evolving issues and trends in the tourism industry
  4. Describe travel motivators and tourism generators
  5. Assess the impact of tourism as a worldwide economic, environmental, cultural, political and social force
  6. Describe the role, structure and function of professional, industry, and government organizations and associations that impact tourism
  7. Evaluate career paths, sources of career path information and career opportunities in tourism

Teaching and Learning Approach

This is a student-centered approach which will blend together theory and practice. Experiential opportunities will be within the classroom, online, community and in an industry setting where possible.
