OTEC 110 Keyboarding I provides students with the necessary techniques to keyboard accurately at a minimum of 35 net words per minute using the alpha and numeric keyboard. Starting with finger placement, students learn how to type alphabetic keys, numbers, punctuation and symbols quickly, accurately, and without looking at a keyboard. This course or the equivalent skill is essential for those interested in an office career and for subsequent computer courses where keyboarding is required.

Teaching and Learning Approach
*Touch is the ability to keyboard accurately without looking at your fingers. This ability is the key to a steady
increase in speed and accuracy.
Students will use online software to learn essential keyboarding techniques and practice keyboarding skills to
build speed and accuracy. Daily practice is recorded within the program and weekly submissions are required for
instructor review. Regular speed drills and timed writings will be completed throughout the course. Successful
completion of this course is based solely on final invigilated keyboarding timings.Learning Resources
