ADMN 293 Electronic Commerce for Professional Management majors in the Business Administration diploma program. This course may also be of interest to students who are interested in learning about implementing e-commerce strategies in an organization. ADMN 293 Electronic Commerce is an introduction to the business models, strategies, marketing design and analytic systems of electronic commerce business solutions. The role of electronic commerce in changing society is also an important topic. The primary aim of ADMN 293 Electronic Commerce is to identify key management considerations required in implementing e-commerce business solutions.

Prerequisites: ADMN 181 or equivalent with a minimum of 60%

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify opportunities for on-line business delivery
  2. Define and verify target markets and their digital habits in the online marketplace
  3. Evaluate strategic opportunities based on existing markets and trends (include market size estimation)
  4. Plan for internet based vulnerabilities, potential damages and ethical implications
  5. Apply the marketing funnel to an e-commerce business by developing an on-line marketing matrix
  6. Develop specific on-line marketing tools bridging target markets to value delivery
  7. Build a basic website and explain why it addresses the specific online communications / strategy needs
  8. Apply the social media marketing funnel to an e-commerce business by developing a social media marketing matrix
  9. Develop specific social media marketing

Teaching and Learning Approach

This course depends on active attendance and participation, as it is based on both lectures as well as in-class activities. Lectures will introduce and explain concepts, and in-class activities will help to demonstrate the real- world applicability of the concepts.
