TSOL 116 Multimedia in the Language Classroom

TSOL 116 Multimedia in the Language Classroom focuses on the teaching strategies and practical applications of multimedia materials when used in the English as a Second/Other Language classroom. Students learn how to use and incorporate multimedia tools such as Learning Management Systems (i.e. Moodle, Power Point presentations, Website resources (i.e., audio, puzzle maker), MOOCs, Vodcasting, TEDx Talks, Smart boards, Document Readers, and Videos into the language classroom. Hands on, task-based and project-based assignments provide a practical basis for developing interactive, effective and meaningful activities and assignments for teaching and learning language.

Corequisite: Full time enrolment in the Selkirk College TESOL Program

  2. Consider multimedia applications from the perspectives of a language learner, instructor and curriculum designer
  3. Develop and evaluate multimedia resources and tools for meaningful and communicative English language learning
  4. Make, adopt, adapt and utilize online materials and activities for classroom use
