MATH 101 Calculus II is a sequel to Math 100 for students who wish to major in science, math or engineering and includes the definite integral, applications of the definite integral to volume, arc length and surface area of revolution; inverse trig functions; techniques of integration; improper integrals; parametric equations and polar coordinates; linear first order differential equations; and an introduction to infinite series; convergence and power series; Taylor Polynomials.
Prerequisites: MATH 100 with a minimum grade of 60%

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Calculate volumes, including volumes of rotation by either washers or shells
- Solve integration problems involving integration by parts, trig identities, trig substitution and partial fractions
- Recognize patterns in more complicated integrals and solve these with tables
- Find approximate integrals by the mid-point rule, the trapezoid rule, and Simpson’s rule
- Solve application problems including average values, surface area of revolution, and probability
- Identify and solve a linear differential equation
- Solve problems involving parametric equations and polar coordinates
- Solve problems involving infinite sequences and series, including testing strategies, radii of convergence, power series, and Taylor series
Teaching and Learning Approach
We will use the lecture portion of the course to cover new material, we then go through examples of that material
during the lab portion of each week, as well as give hints to homework problems.Learning Resources
