TADM 150 Financial Accounting

TADM 150 Financial Accounting provides students with a foundational understanding of introductory accounting principles as they apply to tourism operations. Students will learn how to record transactions, prepare financial statements, and make sense of financial data to support ethical and regulatory considerations relevant to tourism businesses.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Prepare financial transactions using common financial accounting systems, principles and practices
  2. Prepare key financial statements to interpret the financial position of a business against organizational goals
  3. Communicate accounting data clearly using financial tools to model scenarios for strategic and sustainable business decision-making
  4. Use accounting information to evaluate operational and strategic decisions that support sustainable development and adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  5. Apply basic internal controls, ethical practices and regulatory requirements that support responsible business decision-making
  6. Apply periodic and perpetual inventory systems to record, track and evaluate inventory transactions that support accurate cost of goods sold and responsible operational decision-making
