DFAB 113 Fabrication Practices

School of Arts and Technology

DFAB 113 Fabrication Practices provides students with practical fabrication experience in metal. Students will gain hands-on experience in the application, maintenance and procedures for use of hand tools, power tools, layout tools, drills, and drill presses in a professional machine shop setting.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Apply safe practices in shop areas
  2. Use and maintain hand and power tools
  3. Use measuring tools including linear and Vernier scales, micrometers, callipers and gauges, dial indicators and digital readouts
  4. Perform layout utilizing dimensioning standards
  5. Fabricate metal objects using a drill press and other tools
