DFAB 104 Computer Aided Design

DFAB 104 Computer Aided Design (CAD) introduces students to design for digital fabrication. Emphasis will be put on designing functional parts following industry design standards. This course will focus directly on 3D CAD applications and design practices. Students will gain knowledge in solid and parametric modeling as well as the migration between various workflows and approaches.

Corequisite: DFAB 103

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Produce custom 3D models using solid modelling techniques
  2. Create assembly files consisting of multiple individual parts
  3. Demonstrate an efficient and organized approach to 3D modelling following professional standards
  4. Utilize collaborative features of cloud-based software
  5. Produce a simple 3D model using Rhino software
