Overview
Program Summary
The Selkirk College Music program has been preparing students for the commercial music and entertainment industry for over 30 years.
A diverse cross-section of musical styles is offered that allows students to explore the best that each genre has to offer, from rock and blues to jazz, folk and world music. Develop your skills in performance, improvisation, songwriting, composition, film scoring, recording and live sound mixing.
Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion students will be able to:
- transcribe and analyze musical compositions in a variety of styles.
- orchestrate music for ensembles of varying size and instrumentation.
- create original musical works.
- produce a recording of their own composition.
- evaluate the historical, social, and cultural context of musical compositions.
- rehearse and perform a recital of their own compositions.
