ADMN 100 Skills Orientation will welcome students to Selkirk College and highlight the expected knowledge and skills that will be required in all School of Business programs. This course will provide resources and learning opportunities to assist students in acquiring the essential skills in math and computer applications to support the successful completion of their chosen program in business. In addition, this course introduces several important college policies and programs that all students need to be aware of.
Prerequisites: Acceptance to the School of Business diploma and post-graduate diploma programs

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Calculate expressions with negative numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, exponents, and logarithms
- Present monetary calculations in the appropriate format with respect to rounding and number of decimal places
- Connect linear equations with two variables to graphs of lines
- Solve equations with one variable
- Create and edit documents with different file formats
- Use electronic communication tools and course websites effectively
- Define components of academic integrity and the expectations for academic integrity in the School of Business
- Identify the support services at Selkirk College
Teaching and Learning Approach
Material is presented through a series of modules containing interactive online activities, including videos and examples. Following each module, students have unlimited attempts to demonstrate an understanding of the material through an online quiz. Instructor support is available on campus, remotely, and through electronic communication.Learning Resources
