Overview
Program Summary
The Selkirk College Music program has been preparing students for the commercial music and entertainment industry for over 30 years.
A diverse cross-section of musical styles is offered that allows students to explore the best that each genre has to offer, from rock and blues to jazz, folk and world music. Develop your skills in performance, improvisation, songwriting, composition, film scoring, recording and live sound mixing.
Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion students will be able to:
- analyze the harmonic and melodic structures and lyrics of songs in a variety of contemporary and traditional styles.
- compose songs by synthesizing and applying knowledge of contemporary and traditional musical styles.
- arrange songs in a variety of musical styles for ensembles of varying size and instrumentation.
- rehearse and perform a recital of their own songs.
- produce a recording of their own songs.

Graduation and Promotion
In order to receive your credential in your program you must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00.
