SAFE 20 Safety on the Job Site I introduces students to what makes for a safe and healthy workplace. Students will learn about health and safety principles, rights and responsibilities of the employer and employee, WorkSafe BC, and hazard recognition in the worksite.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of employment positions
- Identify strategies for incorporating health safety and wellness principles in personal and workplace settings
- Demonstrate the ability to request a safety orientation
- Identify and explain principles of occupational health and safety
- Identify common hazards in specific training area
- Follow the hazard reporting process for a given work site
- Demonstrate an understanding of workplace policies and procedures
- Understand and identify the role of WorkSafe BC, employer’s and employee’s responsibilities
- Understand and use workplace forms
Teaching and Learning Approach
Students can expect various teaching methodologies such as include small group projects (e.g. poster projects,
classroom-based worksite activities), individual projects (e.g. reflective worksheets) and discussions (e.g. how to
approach common safety problems).Learning Resources
