Teaching and Learning Approach

Theory Class

Facilitation of learning and discovery will occur through interactive engagement in the classroom. Learning will occur through completion of pre-class preparation activities provided on Moodle LEARN and interactive class discussion and application activities. Understanding is enhanced by drawing on participants’ experiences of health in families and in communities. Learning will occur through small and large group discussions, small group activities, some lecture and sharing of experiences through storytelling.

Nursing Skills Center (Lab)

Skills development will be facilitated through active engagement in learning materials provided on Moodle LEARN, prior to lab, and in-lab practice using simulation and person-person interactions. Each lab session will be preceded with a review of relevant theory that will then be applied in the lab. Students will learn various skills through observation of instructor demonstration, critical discussions and opportunities to apply concepts and engage in problem-solving and reflection.
