EDCP 49 Education and Career Planning - Intermediate Level

School of Academic Upgrading and Development

EDCP 49 Education and Career Planning – Intermediate level aims to enhance the life and employment readiness skills of adult learners. Students develop a set of core skills to help them meet their personal, career, and educational goals. Specifically, students will investigate and practice a variety of communications skills applied to workplace settings. Students will also explore personal skills and values, workplace ethics and safety, and job search methods. The course will culminate with the creation of a sample career portfolio.

 

This course can be used to complete the Intermediate Level Foundation for Work Certificate.

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. 1. Communication a) apply verbal communication strategies to workplace scenarios b) explain different forms of non-verbal communication c) identify cultural variations in verbal and non-verbal communication d) identify five styles of conflict management e) utilize a conflict resolution method

Career management a) identify personal skills, attributes, values, and believes b) explain the causes and effects of bias, stereotype, and discrimination c) identify characteristics of an ethical worker d) explain the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees e) make a career plan f) identify job search methods g) create a sample career portfolio
