COMM 220 Principles of Organizational Behaviour is an introduction to the behaviour, relationships, and performance of individuals and groups in work organizations as well as the nature of organizational structure and processes. Organizational dynamics are examined with a view to creating an effective working environment from a human perspective.

Prerequisites: ADMN 170 with a minimum grade of 60%

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts and theories related to Organizational Behaviour
  2. Apply basic concepts and theories to solve problems related to Organizational Behaviour
  3. Diagnose an issue using critical thinking to make a decision or recommendation
  4. Develop self-awareness by identifying and synthesizing one’s values, personality traits, strengths, and leadership style
  5. Demonstrate a variety of collaboration, conflict resolution, and communication skills to complete assignments
  6. Contribute questions, ideas, opinions and feedback to enhance the learning experience
  7. Communicate thoughts effectively in verbal, written, in-person, and/or other audio-visual formats

Teaching and Learning Approach

This course depends on active attendance and participation, as it is based on both lectures as well as in-class activities. Lectures will introduce and explain concepts, and in-class activities will help to demonstrate the real- world applicability of the concepts.
