BUS 495 Performance Management is a capstone course integrating the varied disciplines in business including accounting and finance, marketing, operations, economics, forecasting, and management, into a comprehensive knowledge base which becomes a foundation for strategic planning. Students' participation in class and in team projects and analysis of business cases are core components of this course.
Prerequisites: BUS 491 with a minimum grade of 64%, plus 45 credits.

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Describe the importance of governance and corporate social responsibility and their impact on strategy formulation and execution throughout the life-cycle of a firm
- Evaluate and develop corporate mission and vision statements
- Tthink strategically about a firm, its industry and business position, and based on this, develop a plan for a firm to gain, and sustain, a competitive advantage
- Describe the managerial role in developing strategy, the actions a manager can take to promote successful implementation of a strategy, including management of change
- Use knowledge from other courses to see how various divisions of a firm fit together and why different parts of a firm need to be managed with consideration for one another
- Work as a team member to analyze and respond to business cases
- Communicate effectively through a variety of media, including public speaking
Teaching and Learning Approach
A combination of case study readings, instructor and student presentations, online discussions, and group work
will develop each learner’s ability to analyze business case facts and information to formulate specific,
measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound recommendations to resolve strategic issues. The textbook
and case pack are mandatory and essential resources for this course.
Whether participating and engaging as an individual or as a team member, learners will be required to contribute,
